Skeeter Eliminator Series

In December, Georgia Outdoor News (GON) magazine announced a unique,  heads-up bass tournament trail. The tournament comes on the heels of last year’s GON Eliminator Series. This year Skeeter Boats has hopped onboard with GON to bring anglers the 2007 Skeeter Eliminator Series.

To enter this tournament, GON must have applications by January 18, 2007. The drawing will be held at the GON office on January 19, 2007.

The Skeeter Eliminator Series is open to 64 boaters and 64 non-boaters. The event is a 100 percent payback tournament. If the winning boater in the Skeeter Eliminator Series is a registered Skeeter owner and fishes out of his or her Skeeter boat in the final round at Lake Oconee, that angler will win $10,000. Boaters not fishing from a Skeeter can win $5,000 for first place.

The event takes place in six rounds. GON has asked me to be the tournament director for Rounds 1-3. Rounds 1-2 will take place on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at Lake Sinclair.

Round 3 will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Lake Oconee and will result in the “Final-8.” Those guys move on to Round 4, where a GON editor will hop aboard and take notes and photographs for a story in the magazine.

To be eligible, boaters must have a bass boat and sign-up with a non-boater. Entry fee for boaters is $220, and non boater entry fee is $110. Boaters and non-boaters must be GON subscribers to be eligible. Boaters and non-boaters must enter together.

An easy way to sign up is to call GON and use a credit card. Their number is (800) 438-4663.

I’ve attached an application form if you’d rather write a check and mail it in. Entry fee checks can be together or separate but must come in one envelope. The cost for both on one check is $330. Two, one-year subscriptions to GON is $33.90.

Checks for entry fees and GON subscriptions must be made out to GON.

Mail the application and checks to The Skeeter Eliminator Series, 4331 Seven Islands Rd., Madison, Ga. 30650.

For more information on the trail, go to www.gon.com or call (800) 438-4663.
